Darkness into Light London 2024
On the 11th of May, members of the Irish community came together to participate in the Darkness into Light London walks. This year saw the suicide prevention and self harm awareness event come to four separate venues in London and the surrounding areas.
The Darkness into Light Cricklewood walk, the first fundraising event to launch in the UK for icap and Pieta House, returned to its usual home in the Crown Hotel. Participants of the walk began their journey outside of the historical hotel and proceeded to Gladstone Park, where they were met by volunteer marshals to guide them through the darkness of the park.

The Sunbury-on-Thames location for the walk returned to the Hazelwood Centre where participants registered in the warmth of the sports centre whilst sharing stories over cups of tea. At 4.15am, they then proceeded to walk the training grounds guided by the flood lights of the pitches.
For the first time in Darkness into Light history, we welcomed the brand new location of Luton to our collection of walks. Thanks to the support and organisation skills of the Luton Irish Forum, Luton town held its first walk to fundraise for icap and Pieta House. We are delighted to have them on board.
The Darkness into Light London walk also returned to our Clapham location which has become one of our most successful and popular venues for the London Irish community. This walk took place in the beautiful setting of Clapham Common. Participants of the walk were treated to a peaceful atmosphere with heart-warming music from a solo guitarist as they made their way around the route for the walk.
If you haven’t done so already, there is still an opportunity to show your support and donate to the Darkness into Light London walk. You can donate here.
