On Wednesday, 11th of April, CEO of icap, Catherine Hennessy joined the Darkness into Light committee members at the Clayton Crown hotel to launch the 2018 London walk. Thanks to the generosity and the dedicated fundraising of the London Irish community, the 2017 walk raised over £46,000 with £22,000 donated to icap to support our work providing culturally-sensitive counselling and psychotherapy to Irish people.
The Darkness into Light walk was brought to London thanks to the support and coordination of the Kerry Association London and its dedicated members. This is the third year that icap has been chosen as the charity partner and Catherine Hennessy, CEO of icap, spoke on the night the express her support for the event and the cause:
“icap is delighted to partner with Pieta House for the 5th year of Darkness into Light. We’re pleased to work alongside this charity as we do quite similar work in London and we are very grateful to the Kerry Association and Darkness into Light for their support.”
The 5th annual Darkness into Light walk will take place in London on Friday night 11th of May into Saturday morning 12th of May. It is a unique, early morning experience which begins in darkness at 4.15am as thousands of people walk or run a 5km route while dawn is breaking. The early dawn represents hope and is symbolic of the work of icap and Pieta House; bringing people from darkness back into the light. The walk will begin at the Clayton Crown hotel with t-shirt collection at the venue available from 2am. As with every year, this event wouldn’t be possible without our committed volunteers and we are seeking even more to join our team as the event gets bigger.
